There are times when cursors are needed. But this talk will try to guide development away from cursors. It will give techniques to use instead of cursors and some functions new to SQL Server that lessen the need for cursors. It will also go through the thought process of changing cursors into set-logic-based SQL code.
Mike Welsh is a SQL Server database administrator with over 10 years experience in a variety of database platforms including Oracle and Sybase. He has performed a full range of SQL Server DBA duties using ERP, CRM, and PeopleSoft-based HR databases.
