Putting SharePoint to Work: Enabling Knowledge Communities
This presentation fill focus on an approach to enabling user groups, sometimes called knowledge communities, using SharePoint. We will look at common problems that hinder deployment and use of SharePoint for anything more than point-solutions, and approaches to speed adoption across organizations. Roles, responsibilities, and strategies for how to organize internally to support knowledge communities will be outlined. And for you developers – we will examine opportunities within the process for custom code that enhances adoption strategies.
Jim has been deeply involved in SharePoint projects since 2003, and in portals, collaboration, and internet-based solutions since the mid-90s. Jim helped lead the adoption of SharePoint across a global Fortune 500, and is co-author of a patented process that supports enabling knowledge communities. Jim has led the deployment of SharePoint for several organizations, and focuses on enabling user groups, business process improvements using SharePoint, and collaboration. Jim has an M.A. in Communication from the University of Pittsburgh, where he was an adjunct instructor for 15 years. He is currently a Principal Consultant for Paragon Computer Professionals, focusing on SharePoint, collaboration and enterprise content management.
