We started philly.net in the summer of 2001. Our first meeting was held that November. We are well over 100 events and counting.
philly.net replaced the Philadelphia Back Office User Group (PBOUG) which ended that summer. There was a related group called Philadelphia Enterprise Developer's User Group (PEDUG). Both used a similar format. PBOUG ran for many years as the successor to the Philadelphia Area SQL Server User Group (PASSUG).
The switch to .NET application server topics moved the group to an enterprise application development focus.
